Extract text from log and firmware files (PLF)

To convert other file formats to the "Log or Firmware File" file type, you need software like Windows Performance Toolkit or a similar tool.
A .PLF file generally serves one of three completely distinct purposes: a Windows Performance Log generated by the Microsoft Windows Performance Toolkit, a device firmware update file for Parrot drones or Panasonic camera lenses, or a project schedule layout from Oracle Primavera P6. These files are highly proprietary and purpose-built. A Windows performance log compiles complex system metric data that cannot be read in a standard text editor. Primavera layouts lock users into an expensive Oracle ecosystem, making project collaboration difficult with external stakeholders. Firmware update files are binary packages designed strictly for hardware flashing.
Because .PLF files are software-specific, converting them is often necessary to extract usable information. For system logs or Primavera project layouts, convert the file to CSV or TXT to analyze the raw data in Microsoft Excel. For sharing schedules and layouts with non-licensed team members, convert to PDF for archiving and easy printing. Note that if your file is a drone or camera firmware update, it cannot and should not be converted, as modifying it will corrupt the installation package.
