About PLI files
The .pli extension is a notoriously ambiguous filename used by completely unrelated industries, creating significant confusion for users. In its most common form, it is a Polish Elixir-O bank transfer batch file used for processing transactions between banks like PKO Bank Polski and the KIR clearing house. These files are strictly formatted text or data blobs that contain sensitive financial instructions, making them unreadable to standard text editors without specific parsing logic.
A secondary but technically demanding use is in Nemetschek Allplan, where .pli files function as CAD project drawings or lists. These are proprietary engineering files that cannot be opened by standard viewers like Adobe Acrobat or web browsers. Furthermore, .pli may appear as a vector animation level file in OpenToonz (formerly widely used by Studio Ghibli), or even as a legacy misnamed Apple Property List.
Because of this fragmentation, simply double-clicking a .pli file often results in an error. Users typically need to convert these files to make them usable:
- For Banking/Data: Convert Elixir-O files to CSV or Excel to audit transaction lists.
- For CAD/Engineering: Convert Allplan drawings to PDF for client review or DXF for compatibility with AutoCAD.
- For Animation: Convert OpenToonz levels to PNG or GIF for easy previewing.
- For Development: Convert Apple PLI/PLIST files to standard XML or JSON for editing.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PLI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted PL1, TXM, MOR, MFD and PSI files.
The PLI Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PLI converter.
