About PIT files

The .pit file extension primarily identifies a Samsung Partition Information Table, a critical system map used by Samsung Odin and Heimdall to define the partition structure (System, Data, Boot, Recovery) on Android devices during firmware flashing. Because these are compiled binary files, they are completely unreadable to humans and incompatible with standard text editors. Flashing an incorrect or corrupted .pit file is a common cause of "hard bricking" a device, rendering it unusable. Users often need to convert or extract this binary data into readable TXT or JSON formats to verify partition sizes before executing a flash operation.

Alternatively, a .pit file may be a Polish Tax Declaration created by e-pity. These files are locked into specific tax year software versions, making them difficult to share or archive long-term. For these users, the ideal workflow is converting the proprietary data to PDF for universal viewing and printing. Rarely, .pit refers to a legacy PackIt archive from classic Macintosh systems, which requires conversion to ZIP for access on modern OSs like Windows 11 or macOS Sequoia.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PIT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PLT, MD5, JPG, PDF, OFP, ZIP, JPEG, PSD, TXT, PNG and SDOCX files.
