To convert other file formats to the "Partition Information Table" file type, you need software like Samsung Odin or a similar tool.
About PIT files
A .PIT file is primarily a Partition Information Table used by Samsung Android devices. These system files contain vital configuration data that dictates how the smartphone's internal storage is partitioned during firmware flashing. Users typically encounter .PIT files when using the Odin utility to unbrick a phone, install custom ROMs, or repartition a device. Another frequent use for the .PIT extension is the Polish tax declaration file created by the e-pity Płatnik software, and occasionally, it represents a CardPresso ID card template.
The major disadvantage of a .PIT partition file is its highly proprietary, device-specific nature. Opening or editing a Samsung .PIT file manually is extremely risky; changing hexadecimal values without specialized knowledge can permanently brick a device. Furthermore, these files are completely unreadable by standard text editors. Polish tax .PIT files suffer from extreme software lock-in, requiring a specific annual release of the e-pity software to view past tax data, which is highly frustrating for users migrating to a new computer.
Converting a .PIT file depends on its origin. For Samsung firmware files, advanced users might attempt to parse them into readable TXT or XML formats to inspect partition blocks, though direct conversion tools are rare. For tax files, converting to PDF is the pragmatic solution for long-term archiving and printing. Because these are closed, specialized formats, standard online converters predictably fail to process them.
This is where our platform helps. Our system safely inspects the file's internal headers. Even if it is a rigid system file or a closed tax document, if our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PIT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PIT file to PDF, ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, CAB, ACE or ARJ, you can use Samsung Odin or similar software from the "Firmware Partition Layout" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to PIT, try Samsung Odin or another comparable tool in the "Firmware Partition Layout" category.
The PIT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PIT converter.
