About PIM files
If you have a .PIM file, you are likely dealing with one of two completely different formats that share the same extension: a legacy contact backup or a scientific fluorescence image.
Contact Backups: Historically, mobile phones and Personal Information Manager (PIM) software used this format to export address books, calendars, and notes. The problem is that these files are often proprietary binary dumps or non-standard text files that modern applications like Microsoft Outlook or iOS cannot read natively. They lock your data behind obsolete "PC Suite" software.
PSI Imaging Data: In the scientific community, Photon Systems Instruments (PSI) uses .PIM for chlorophyll fluorescence imaging. These are high-bit-depth raster images containing crucial biological data. Standard image viewers like Microsoft Photos or web browsers cannot render them, making the data invisible to anyone without the specific analysis suite.

For Contacts: Convert .PIM to CSV (Comma Separated Values) to edit your data in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Alternatively, convert to VCF (vCard) for instant import into Gmail, iCloud, or modern smartphones.
