About PBN files

The .PBN file extension primarily represents a Portable Bridge Notation file. This is a universal standard used to record contract bridge games, including deals, auctions, and card play. It is widely used by bridge clubs, tournament hardware like Bridgemate, and analysis software such as BridgeComposer (Wikipedia). A secondary, unrelated use is an NC manufacturing data file used in industrial machining by Panasonic PanaCIM and PTC Pro/ENGINEER.

The main disadvantage of the .PBN format is its highly specialized nature. Without dedicated bridge software or specific industrial CAM applications, average users cannot properly visualize the data. While the bridge variant is technically plain text, the raw tag structure is difficult for casual players to read. Industrial .PBN files are strictly proprietary and useless outside of the intended CNC systems.

To share bridge deals or machine logs universally, conversion is required. For reading and printing, convert .PBN to PDF or TXT. For database archiving or statistical analysis of hands, convert to CSV.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PBN file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DUP, LIN, BPN, SVG, PNG, DLM, PDB, ZIP, TXT, EXE, JPG and PDF files.
