Extract text from Origin or OrCAD projects (OPJ)

The .OPJ file extension represents two distinct, highly proprietary file formats: an Origin Project File for data analysis or an OrCAD Project File for electronic design automation.
In the scientific and engineering communities, OriginLab Origin uses .OPJ to store raw datasets, 2D/3D graphs, analysis results, and scripts in a single workspace. Alternatively, electrical engineers use .OPJ files in Cadence OrCAD to manage schematic designs and printed circuit board layouts.
The main disadvantage of the .OPJ format is severe vendor lock-in. Neither type of .OPJ file can be natively viewed in web browsers or standard operating systems. Opening an Origin .OPJ fully requires an expensive OriginPro subscription, making collaboration difficult with colleagues who use Microsoft Excel or open-source tools. Similarly, OrCAD files trap schematic metadata in a closed ecosystem. They also tend to become bloated because they embed entire analysis histories and datasets.
To bypass these limitations, conversion is essential. For extracting raw numerical data for editing, convert the file to CSV or XLSX. If you need to share graphical plots or circuit schematics for web viewing or archiving, convert to PDF or SVG for lossless, universally readable formats. Note that converting to flat formats will strip interactive data modeling histories.
