Convert ODR to another file type
To convert ODR text resources to another format, you need OpenIV or other Game software.
Convert a file to ODR
To convert other file formats to the "Proprietary Game Asset" file type, you need software like OpenIV or a similar tool.
About ODR files
A .ODR file typically functions as a 3D model file associated with Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V). Used specifically in conjunction with the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE) and modding tools like OpenIV, these files store 3D geometry, vertices, and object properties. Alternatively, a .ODR file may be an XML-based drawing file created by the educational software ObjectDraw, or a game replay file used by the mobile rhythm game osu!droid.
The primary disadvantage of the GTA V .ODR format is its highly proprietary nature. It is heavily locked down and built exclusively for the RAGE engine environment. You cannot natively open these files in standard 3D suites like Blender or Autodesk Maya. They are largely useless outside of the game or specialized modding environments, creating a major bottleneck for designers who want to modify in-game assets.
To effectively edit these files, users must convert .ODR to standard 3D formats like OBJ or FBX. Because it is a closed, proprietary game asset, standard online converters will fail to process it. Usually, only the original game engine or community-built modding software like OpenIV can correctly interpret the geometry and textures. However, just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. convert.guru can safely inspect your .ODR file, read internal text (especially useful for the XML-based ObjectDraw variant), and convert it if a supported underlying format is detected.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ODR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ODR file to YDR, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT or DB, you can use OpenIV or similar software from the "3D Game Model Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to ODR, try OpenIV or another comparable tool in the "3D Game Model Storage" category.
The ODR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ODR converter.
