About ODD files
The .ODD format is most commonly a Drawable Dictionary Definition used by the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE). It stores 3D models, geometries, and textures for popular games like Grand Theft Auto V. Beyond gaming, the .ODD extension is heavily fragmented. It is occasionally used for OData Entity Relationship Diagrams in SAP SuccessFactors, as an XML schema customization file for the Text Encoding Initiative, or even as a disguised screenshot image file on certain Oppo and Realme Android devices. To view and extract game assets, modders rely on OpenIV, a specialized archive manager. Text-based variations can be opened with standard code editors. The main disadvantage of .ODD files is their lack of universal compatibility. Game data files are extremely proprietary and cannot be opened directly in standard 3D modeling software like Blender or Autodesk Maya. This creates a massive hurdle for modders who must extract the internal geometries first. Similarly, if an Android device saves a standard image as an .ODD file, it becomes unreadable by web browsers and desktop operating systems until the format is corrected. For 3D editing purposes, convert game-based .ODD files to standard OBJ or FBX formats. If your file is a mobile screenshot, convert it to JPG or WebP for immediate web compatibility and easy sharing. The ODD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ODD converter.
