Convert a file to MESH
To convert other file formats to the "3D Model Mesh Data" file type, you need software like Blender or a similar tool.
About MESH files
A .MESH file stores 3D geometric data, including vertices, edges, faces, UV coordinates, and sometimes rigging weights. It is notoriously fragmented; practically every game engine - including Ogre3D, Roblox, Godot, Unity, and proprietary engines by Paradox Interactive or CD Projekt RED - uses its own custom, mutually incompatible .MESH format. Scientific tools like Gmsh also generate .MESH files for finite element analysis. Because .MESH is typically a proprietary, serialized format compiled for real-time rendering, it locks your 3D assets into a single ecosystem. You cannot easily open an Ogre3D .MESH file in Maya or a Paradox .MESH file in Roblox without specialized import scripts. The format is largely useless for web viewing or 3D printing in its raw state. To edit the file in Blender or Maya, you must convert it to a standard interchange format like FBX or OBJ. For 3D printing, convert to STL. For web rendering, use GLTF or GLB. Drag and drop your file here to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing software.
Use Convert.Guru to open and convert your MESH file.
If you want to convert MESH file to DAE, MAX, BLEND, MA, MB, C4D or WRL, you can use Blender or similar software from the "3D Geometry Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DWG, DAE, X3D, IGES, WRL, JT, SKP, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, STEP or FBX files to MESH, try Blender or another comparable tool in the "3D Geometry Storage" category.
The MESH Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MESH converter.
