About MSA files
The .MSA file extension is a highly fragmented format that serves entirely different purposes across multiple industries. Most commonly, it stores EMSA/MAS standard microscopy spectral data, legacy MidiSoft audio sequences, Geomensura civil engineering CAD projects, or Atari ST disk images created by Magic Shadow Archiver. In bioinformatics, it also represents a Multiple Sequence Alignment file used in tools like MEGA. This extreme fragmentation is a major disadvantage because standard operating systems cannot guess the file contents, leading to constant unsupported format errors. Proprietary CAD formats like Geomensura lock your data inside expensive software, while Atari ST images and MidiSoft files are largely obsolete and completely unsupported by modern native players. You need to convert these files to regain accessibility. For audio playback, convert MidiSoft .MSA to MP3 or WAV. For microscopy or sequence data analysis, export to plain text CSV or FASTA. For civil engineering collaboration, you must convert to standard DWG or DXF.
