About MMG files
The .MMG file extension predominantly signifies a CNC Toolpath File generated by Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software, most notably Vectric VCarve and Aspire. These files contain G-code - sequential text instructions that guide CNC routers, milling machines, and cutters. While the content is standard ASCII text, the .MMG extension is specific to certain machine post-processors (often associated with Model Master or generic G-code outputs).
A common limitation arises when users attempt to load these files into CNC controllers that rigidly demand standard extensions like NC, TAP, or GCODE. The specific extension can also prevent generic text editors from opening the file for code review. To ensure broad machine compatibility and easy viewing/editing, users typically convert or rename .MMG files to NC, TXT, or PDF (for documentation).
Less commonly, an .MMG file serves as a MangaMeeya Comic Archive, which is essentially a renamed ZIP container holding JPG or PNG images for the legacy MangaMeeya reader. These archives restrict content to a specific, outdated viewer.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MMG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert MMG file to DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T or X_B, you can use Vectric Aspire or similar software from the "CNC Machine Toolpath Instructions" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to MMG, try Vectric Aspire or another comparable tool in the "CNC Machine Toolpath Instructions" category.
The MMG Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MMG converter.
