About MKR files
The .MKR file extension is shared by several distinct proprietary formats. Most commonly, it is a MonkerSolver simulation file used in advanced poker strategy calculations, or a Garment CAD marker file utilized by Richpeace software for textile pattern layouts. It is also found as a marker template in Vicon motion capture systems, a test bench result file from Rotronics AGRISC, and an animation marker in Autodesk 3ds Max. These files are highly specialized and frustrating to manage outside their native environments. A MonkerSolver .MKR file is actually an uncompressed ZIP archive under the hood, but opening it manually yields proprietary data trees that are unreadable without the costly solver tool. Garment CAD .MKR files are strictly locked into the Richpeace ecosystem, making it impossible to share cutting layouts with manufacturers who use different plotters. For CAD workflows, users desperately need to convert these to DXF or PDF, while poker players often need CSV exports. Because these are closed, proprietary formats, standard online converters fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, like the ZIP container of a solver file, viewing or extraction may still be possible.

The MKR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MKR converter.
