About AVE files

The .AVE file extension is most prominently associated with Avigilon Native Video Export files, a proprietary format generated by Avigilon Control Center (ACC) software. These files are used to store high-definition surveillance footage with embedded event data and digital signatures to ensure evidence integrity.

While essential for legal chain-of-custody in security scenarios, .AVE files present significant compatibility hurdles for general users. Because they are designed to be tamper-proof, they cannot be opened by standard media players like VLC Media Player or Windows Media Player. To view these files, users are typically forced to download the standalone Avigilon Control Center Player.

For practical sharing, playback on mobile devices, or submission to parties without specialized software, converting the file is necessary.

A significantly less common use for the extension is an Avid User File used by Avid Technology software, typically storing user preferences rather than media.

Use Convert.Guru to open and convert your AVE file.

Users also converted HTML, AVI, MJP, EXE, PDF, MP4, GRF, MOV, TMP, ZIP, XLSX, WEBP and ODG files.

The AVE Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our AVE converter.
