About MCF files
The .mcf file extension is most commonly a CEWE Photo Book Project file used by software like CEWE Fotowelt. It uses an XML-based structure to save page layouts, text overlays, and local file paths to your photos. However, it is fundamentally just a blueprint. It does not store the actual images. This is a major disadvantage if you try to share an .mcf file via email - the recipient will only see broken links and blank pages unless you also send the massive accompanying *mcf-Dateien image folder.
Another annoying limit is that .mcf files are locked into their respective software ecosystems. You cannot upload a CEWE .mcf to a rival printing service like Shutterfly. Other common uses for .mcf include encrypted Norton security logs and Macro Gamer scripts. These are also strictly tied to their parent software and cannot be natively read by standard operating systems or mobile devices.
To break out of these software silos, you must convert the file. For CEWE projects, extracting the raw XML data or converting the layout to PDF makes archiving and sharing possible. For Norton logs or macro scripts, converting to TXT allows you to read the data in standard text editors.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MCF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert MCF file to SCF, BBL, CF, TTF, OTF, WOFF, WOFF2, EOT, SVG, BDF, PCF or FNT, you can use CEWE Fotowelt or similar software from the "Photo Book Project Layout" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The MCF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MCF converter.
