About ACSM files

An .ACSM file is an Adobe Content Server Message. It is not an actual eBook. Instead, it is an XML token that authorizes the download of a DRM-protected EPUB or PDF file from Adobe's servers. To open it, you must use Adobe Digital Editions. You can read more about Adobe's DRM on Wikipedia. The .ACSM format is highly frustrating for users. People buy an eBook, expect an EPUB, but receive a 2KB file that cannot be read on standard devices like a Kindle. It is heavily restricted by proprietary Digital Rights Management (DRM). It requires creating an Adobe ID and installing specialized software just to retrieve the actual book. Furthermore, the token often expires after a short period. You cannot directly convert an .ACSM file without first downloading the linked eBook. Once you fetch the actual EPUB or PDF using Adobe Digital Editions, you may wish to convert it to bypass device restrictions. For reading on a Kindle, convert your downloaded file to AZW3 or MOBI. For archiving, use .PDF/A.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ACSM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted EPUB, PDF, DRM, ZIP, CSM, LCPL, SPV, CRDOWNLOAD, TXT, ENC, ACM, SDOCX and ASM files.
