About LPS files
The .LPS extension is shared by three distinct ecosystems, creating a frequent point of confusion for users. The most commercially significant format is the LightBurn Project File, created by LightBurn for laser cutting and engraving. These files store vector paths, cut settings, and image data. The friction here is proprietary lock-in: .LPS files cannot be opened by standard vector tools like Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape directly. To share these designs with clients who don't own the software, users must typically convert them to SVG, DXF, or PDF within the native application.
Alternatively, your file might be a Lazarus Project Session file. This is an XML-based file generated by the Lazarus IDE (Free Pascal). It doesn't contain source code but rather your local workspace state - open tabs, cursor positions, and breakpoints. Users often try to compile these by mistake, but they are technically expendable metadata files. Lastly, in the gaming world, .LPS serves as data or save files for VPet Simulator and Live2DViewerEx, often containing character definitions or mod settings. These are frequently strictly formatted text or JSON data that require specific game editors to modify without corruption.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LPS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted EPS, GCODE, JPG, TXT, PNG, NFF, BR5, OBP, CFM, MLD, CMS and MGD files.
The LPS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LPS converter.
