To convert other file formats to the "Lock File" file type, you need software like Microsoft Access or a similar tool.
About LACCDB files
A .LACCDB file is a specialized temporary lock file generated automatically by Microsoft Access whenever a valid ACCDB database is opened. Its primary function is to prevent data corruption in multi-user environments by "locking" specific records or the entire database while a user is editing them. Unlike the actual database file, the .LACCDB contains no user data - only machine identifers and security information regarding who is currently accessing the file.
Users frequently encounter friction with .LACCDB files when they persist after Microsoft Access has closed, usually due to a software crash or network disconnection. In this state, the file prevents the main database from being moved, renamed, or backed up, effectively holding your data hostage. Furthermore, because it is a binary lock file, it cannot be opened, viewed, or converted directly into readable content. To access or share the actual data, you must locate the corresponding ACCDB file. For sharing database contents without requiring Access, the best practice is to convert the parent database to XLSX for spreadsheets, CSV for data interoperability, or PDF for static reporting.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LACCDB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert LACCDB file to ACCDB, DB, SQLITE, SQLITE3, MDB, DBF, ODB, FDB, GDB, MYD, FRM or SQL, you can use Microsoft Access or similar software from the "Database Record Locking" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert NDF, SQLITE3, BAK, RDB, SQL, DB4, MDF, MDB, LDF, DB, DB3 or SQLITE files to LACCDB, try Microsoft Access or another comparable tool in the "Database Record Locking" category.
The LACCDB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LACCDB converter.
