Convert a file to LACCDB
To convert other file formats to the "Database Lock File" file type, you need software like Microsoft Access or a similar tool.
About LACCDB files
A .LACCDB file is a temporary lock file created automatically by Microsoft Access when a user opens an ACCDB database. Its sole purpose is to manage record-locking, ensuring that multiple users do not overwrite each other's changes when accessing the same database on a shared network.
Users often attempt to open or convert .LACCDB files when they cannot find their original database, or when the file is left behind after a software crash. However, this is a major source of confusion. The .LACCDB file does not contain any tables, queries, forms, or actual data. It is highly restricted and only stores two pieces of information: the computer name and the security name of the users currently connected to the database. If this file is present while the database is fully closed, it is an 'orphaned' lock file indicating a network drop or unexpected shutdown.
Because this file lacks actual database content, standard online converters fail to process it. You cannot convert a .LACCDB file to data formats like CSV, XLSX, or SQL. It is a closed, proprietary system file designed strictly for internal Microsoft processes. While we cannot magically turn a lock file into a full database, our analysis tools can inspect the raw text inside an orphaned .LACCDB file. This allows you to identify which user or computer is currently locking your database so you can resolve the access issue.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LACCDB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert LACCDB file to ACCDB, DB, SQLITE, SQLITE3, MDB, DBF, ODB, FDB, GDB, MYD, FRM or SQL, you can use Microsoft Access or similar software from the "Database Record Locking" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert NDF, SQLITE3, BAK, RDB, SQL, DB4, MDF, MDB, LDF, DB, DB3 or SQLITE files to LACCDB, try Microsoft Access or another comparable tool in the "Database Record Locking" category.
The LACCDB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LACCDB converter.
