Convert ACCDB to another file type
To convert ACCDB databases to another format, you need Microsoft Access or other Database software.
Convert a file to ACCDB
To convert other file formats to the "Relational Database File" file type, you need software like Microsoft Access or a similar tool.
About ACCDB files
The .ACCDB file is a relational database saved in the proprietary format used by Microsoft Access. Introduced in Access 2007 to replace the older MDB format, it uses the internal JetDB (or ACE) engine to store data tables, complex queries, forms, reports, and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macros. These files are typically used for local business applications, inventory tracking, and desktop data management.
Despite its long history, the .ACCDB format presents severe limitations in modern workflows. It is a strictly proprietary format that locks data inside a closed ecosystem. It lacks native compatibility with macOS or Linux, forcing users to rely on Windows environments. Opening or editing these files requires an expensive, active Microsoft 365 subscription. Furthermore, the format is notorious for file corruption when accessed concurrently by multiple users over a shared network drive.
Users frequently need to extract their data to break free from vendor lock-in. The best conversion targets are CSV for universal, flat-file raw data compatibility, XLSX for spreadsheet analysis in Microsoft Excel, or SQL dumps to migrate the data to scalable server-based databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL. Be aware that while extracting raw table data is possible, all proprietary UI forms, reports, and VBA macros will be permanently lost during conversion.
Because .ACCDB is a closed, undocumented format, standard online converters often fail to process it. Just drag and drop your file onto convert.guru to identify the format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or extracting tabular data may still be possible without needing the original software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ACCDB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ACCDB file to MDB, PDF, CSV, SQL, SQLITE, ACCDE, DB, SQLITE3, DBF, ODB, FDB or GDB, you can use Microsoft Access or similar software from the "Relational Database Management" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert NDF, SQLITE3, BAK, RDB, SQL, DB4, MDF, MDB, LDF, DB, DB3 or SQLITE files to ACCDB, try Microsoft Access or another comparable tool in the "Relational Database Management" category.
The ACCDB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ACCDB converter.
