Convert a file to JOB
To convert other file formats to the "Survey Project File" file type, you need software like Trimble Access or a similar tool.
About JOB files
The .JOB file extension is most frequently associated with Trimble geospatial software, specifically serving as a project file for field controllers running Trimble Access or Trimble Business Center. These files contain critical raw survey data, including GPS coordinates, total station observations, and site metadata. The main challenge with .JOB files is their proprietary binary structure, which prevents them from being opened in standard spreadsheet tools or CAD software without specialized, often expensive, conversion utilities. Users frequently need to extract this data for processing in third-party engineering applications.
A secondary but common use for this extension is the legacy Windows Task Scheduler file. Originating in older versions of Windows (98/XP), these binary files stored schedule parameters for automated system tasks. While modern Windows systems use XML-based TASK files, legacy .JOB files may still exist in backup archives and are unreadable by modern text editors.
To bridge the gap between field collection and office drafting, users should convert Trimble .JOB files to CSV or XLSX for analysis in Microsoft Excel, or to DXF and DWG for integration into AutoCAD. For archiving or interoperability, the JXL (JobXML) format is preferred. Legacy Windows files should be viewed or converted to text to understand the scheduling logic they contain.
Convert.Guru analyzes your JOB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert JOB file to DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T or X_B, you can use Trimble Access or similar software from the "Geospatial Survey Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to JOB, try Trimble Access or another comparable tool in the "Geospatial Survey Data Storage" category.
The JOB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JOB converter.
