About JDX files

A .JDX file is primarily a JCAMP-DX standard file used by chemists and physicists to store and exchange chemical spectroscopy data (such as infrared, Raman, and NMR spectra). It is a plain text format endorsed by IUPAC. A smaller number of .JDX files act as proprietary video recordings or video index files generated by security camera systems from brands like JVC, Juan Security, or Justice AV Solutions (JAVS).

While the JCAMP-DX format is heavily standardized, the raw text output is difficult to read, interpret, and graph without specialized scientific software like JSpecView or JDX Viewer. On the video side, security .JDX files are notorious for being heavily locked to their specific DVR hardware. They consistently fail to open in standard media players, forcing users to rely on clunky, outdated manufacturer software that is rarely compatible with modern operating systems.

To make this data useful, conversion is highly recommended. For spectroscopy analysis, convert .JDX to CSV or TXT to plot the raw spectral data points in Microsoft Excel. For archiving or sharing graphs with non-technical stakeholders, convert to PDF. If you are dealing with a security video .JDX file, convert it to MP4 to guarantee playback on any browser or mobile device.

Convert.Guru analyzes your JDX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DX, 177_JDX, TXT, PDF, CSV, BACKUP, ZIP, SPA, SPE, OPJU, XLSX, JPG and MP4 files.

FAQ

If you want to convert JDX file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use JDX Viewer or similar software from the "Chemical Spectroscopy Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to JDX, try JDX Viewer or another comparable tool in the "Chemical Spectroscopy Data Storage" category.

The JDX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JDX converter.
