About JDX files

A .JDX file is primarily a chemical spectroscopy data file based on the JCAMP-DX standard, maintained by IUPAC. These files store spectral data (like infrared, Raman, or NMR spectra) as ASCII text blocks. A secondary, but highly problematic, use for the .JDX extension is as a proprietary video file or recording index used by security DVR systems (such as JVC, Juan Security, and Justice AV Solutions (JAVS)).

The main disadvantage of the JCAMP-DX format is its specialized nature. While technically human-readable, the files consist of massive numerical arrays that require specific scientific software like Spectragryph to plot the graphs. Conversely, .JDX security videos are notoriously restrictive. They are proprietary, often encrypted, and completely unsupported by standard web browsers or media players like VLC. You are typically forced to use the manufacturer's outdated viewing software just to watch your own footage.

For scientific use, convert .JDX to CSV or TXT for raw data extraction and analysis in Microsoft Excel. To archive or share the visual spectrum graph, convert to PDF or SVG. For security camera files, convert the footage to MP4 to ensure it plays on modern devices. Drag and drop your file to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing software on convert.guru.

Convert.Guru analyzes your JDX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DX, 177_JDX, TXT, PDF, CSV, BACKUP, ZIP, SPA, SPE, OPJU, XLSX, JPG and MP4 files.

FAQ

If you want to convert JDX file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use JDX Viewer or similar software from the "Chemical Spectroscopy Data Exchange" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The JDX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JDX converter.
