Convert a file to JBC
To convert other file formats to the "Encrypted Disk Image" file type, you need software like BestCrypt or a similar tool.
About JBC files
The .jbc file extension represents a collision between high-security storage and hardware engineering, meaning the "conversion" path depends entirely on which format you have. Most commonly, it is a Jam STAPL Byte-Code file used by Intel (formerly Altera) to program FPGA hardware devices. These are binary-compiled instructions for a JTAG chain, not human-readable documents. Alternatively, it is a BestCrypt container created by Jetico software - a virtual encrypted disk that looks like a single file but acts as a locked hard drive. In rare legacy cases, it may be a data file from version 1 of the Hot Potatoes educational software.
Because these files are either compiled binary code or encrypted vaults, you cannot simply convert them to PDF or DOCX using a standard online converter. For BestCrypt files, the only way to access the contents is to "mount" the file using the BestCrypt software and the correct password; once mounted, you can drag files out and save them normally. For Jam STAPL files, they are designed for the Jam Player utility; to change them, you must edit the original source JAM file and recompile it using Quartus Prime. If you possess a legacy Hot Potatoes file, you may be able to open it in a text editor to recover the quiz data strings.
Convert.Guru analyzes your JBC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert JBC file to DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T or X_B, you can use BestCrypt or similar software from the "FPGA Configuration & Encrypted Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to JBC, try BestCrypt or another comparable tool in the "FPGA Configuration & Encrypted Storage" category.
The JBC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JBC converter.
