About IPG files
An .ipg file is predominantly an iPod Click Wheel game file used by legacy Apple iPod devices. These files store executable code, audio, and graphics. Internally, Apple structured these files as standard ZIP archives. A smaller percentage of .ipg files are simply misnamed JPG images created by Adobe Photoshop, or proprietary image data generated by TransWorks.
The main disadvantage of the .ipg format is severe obsolescence and lock-in. You cannot run these games on modern hardware or native web browsers, as they require older iPod firmware and an outdated version of iTunes. TransWorks images are equally problematic, as they lack support in standard image viewers.
To retrieve trapped data, you must convert or extract the file. For an iPod game, convert the .ipg to ZIP to extract the internal PNG graphics and WAV audio files for editing or archiving. If the file is a misnamed photograph, convert it to WEBP or JPG for universal web compatibility. Drop your file here to analyze and convert it securely right in your browser.

The IPG Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our IPG converter.
