About IMZ files
An .IMZ file usually serves one of two completely distinct purposes: a compressed virtual floppy disk image or a Turkish electronic signature package.
In the context of disk imaging, it is an archive created by WinImage. It contains an exact byte-for-byte copy of a physical floppy disk, compressed using standard ZIP or BZ2 algorithms. The disadvantage of this format is its reliance on legacy emulation software. Modern operating systems cannot natively mount .IMZ files, making it frustrating to access old backups or Rockwell Automation PanelView configurations. To use the contents in standard emulators like DOSBox or VirtualBox, you must decompress the file back to a raw IMA or IMG format.
In the context of Turkish government and corporate systems (like e-Devlet or the Revenue Administration), an .IMZ file is a CAdES electronic signature package. These files are highly proprietary wrappers that secure an underlying document, usually a PDF. They require specialized, geographically specific software to validate and open. Users outside of this ecosystem will find these files impossible to read natively.
If your goal is archiving or emulation, convert disk-image .IMZ files to uncompressed IMG or ZIP. For viewing e-signed documents, extract the inner PDF for standard viewing.
Convert.Guru analyzes your IMZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert IMZ file to IMG, ISO, DMG, VHD, VMDK, VDI, HDD, QCOW, QCOW2, RAW, VBOX or OVA, you can use WinImage or similar software from the "Compressed Disk Image Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert VFD, DMG, OVA, IMA, VBOX, ADF, PVS, VHD, OVF, ISO, DSK or IMG files to IMZ, try WinImage or another comparable tool in the "Compressed Disk Image Storage" category.
The IMZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our IMZ converter.
