Convert a file to DKI

To convert other file formats to the "Keyboard Mapping File" file type, you need software like Oracle Forms or a similar tool.

About DKI files

A .dki file is primarily an Oracle Forms Keyboard Mapping Definition file. It contains compressed text data that dictates how keyboard inputs map to specific software actions within the Oracle environment. Alternatively, it serves as an index or table of contents file for the Digitale Bibliothek digital library software published by Directmedia Publishing. These files are typically managed by Oracle Forms or the legacy Digitale Bibliothek reader. You usually need to convert this file when migrating legacy systems or attempting to extract mapping and index data for documentation purposes. The main disadvantage of the .dki format is its proprietary nature; Oracle Forms mappings are stored as compressed text, making them unreadable in standard text editors, while Digitale Bibliothek files are locked into deprecated, offline software. Recommended conversion targets include standard TXT for raw text extraction, or CSV and XML for structured mapping data review. Note that converting a mapping file to a standard text format will break its integration with the host software, serving strictly as a one-way data extraction method. Because .dki files consist of proprietary compressed text or closed-system indices, they are notoriously difficult to open or convert directly. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, just drag and drop your file onto convert.guru to identify the format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your DKI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted IMZ, WIL and WLZ files.

The DKI Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DKI converter.
