About IFP files

The .IFP file extension is primarily used as a Grand Theft Auto animation file. Developed by Rockstar Games for the RenderWare engine, these files store skeletal 3D animation data (like walking, running, or combat moves) for characters in games like GTA: San Andreas and GTA: Vice City. Additionally, the .IFP extension is used by InstallForge for installer project files (which store script parameters in plain UTF-8 text), by GreenPoint mortgage software for Image For Page files (which wrap JPG data), and by Temenos T24 for core banking system packages (often just a renamed ZIP file).

If you are dealing with a GTA animation .IFP, you usually need a 3D modeling application like 3ds Max paired with community-developed IFP IO scripts to import and manipulate the animations. For InstallForge files, InstallForge or any standard text editor will work.

The main disadvantage of gaming .IFP files is their proprietary, compiled nature. They are strictly designed to run within the game engine and cannot be natively viewed in standard 3D viewers. Modifying them requires a complex workflow involving outdated, third-party scripts, and the animations will instantly break if bone hierarchies do not perfectly match the target game engine.

Modders typically aim to extract these animations to standard formats like FBX or MAX for editing. If you have an InstallForge or GreenPoint file, your target format is likely TXT or JPG, respectively.

Because gaming .IFP files belong to closed, proprietary software ecosystems, standard online converters fail to process them. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as a text-based installer script, a zipped banking package, or an embedded JPG - viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your IFP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
