The .gsr file extension is primarily used for two distinct types of data: Hyundai/Kia Global Diagnostic System (GDS) vehicle diagnostic logs, and GPS tracking route data generated by tracking software like GPSWOX. GDS diagnostic files contain engine scan reports, live data recordings, and flight records extracted via G-Scan tools. Alternatively, tracking devices export their route history using this format.
The main disadvantage of .gsr files is their proprietary nature. Automotive diagnostic logs require expensive, dealer-level diagnostic hardware and a costly subscription to open.
