About GSP files

The .gsp extension is associated with multiple distinct formats, creating a common challenge for users trying to open or convert them without the original software.

1. The Geometer's Sketchpad Script: The most common use (approx. 41%) is a dynamic geometry file created by The Geometer's Sketchpad. Widely used in education for visualizing mathematics, these files are strictly proprietary. Without the specific legacy software installed, they are inaccessible to students and educators. Users typically need to convert these to PDF for static viewing or grading, or attempt to recreate them in modern alternatives like GeoGebra.

2. Graphtec Studio Design: Roughly 26% of .gsp files are vector designs used by Graphtec vinyl cutters. These files contain cutting paths and registration marks. Users often face friction because this format is locked to Graphtec's ecosystem. To modify these designs in industry-standard tools like Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW, or to use them with different cutting hardware, conversion to SVG, EPS, or DXF is essential.

3. iGrafx Process File: About 11% are flowchart diagrams from iGrafx. These XML-based files model business processes. Sharing these with stakeholders who do not license iGrafx requires conversion to PDF, JPG, or .VISIO formats.

4. Groovy Server Pages: A smaller subset serves as web templates for the Grails framework, similar to JSP or ASP. These are text-based and best converted to TXT or HTML for code review outside the development environment.

Convert.Guru analyzes your GSP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted STUDIO3, STUDIO, PDF, JPG, GSP (TEMPORARY FILE 1), PNG, GPS, ZIP, BLACKJACK, GSD, JSP, SVG and GFT files.

The GSP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GSP converter.
