Convert MSR to another file type

To convert MSR Data files to another format, you need PHYWE measure or other Data software.

Convert a file to MSR

To convert other file formats to the "Scientific Measurement File" file type, you need software like PHYWE measure or a similar tool.

About MSR files

The .MSR file format primarily stores scientific measurement data recorded by PHYWE measure software, Cobra3 data loggers, or LD DIDACTIC systems. These files hold raw time-series data, sensor readings, and experimental results from laboratory equipment used in physics, chemistry, and biology education. Other notable uses include 3D geological models created in Datamine MineSight and electricity meter data logs from Elster or GE A1800 ALPHA meters. The primary disadvantage of a .MSR file is its proprietary nature. It is a closed format designed specifically for the software or hardware that created it. You cannot simply open an .MSR file in standard spreadsheet tools like Microsoft Excel or web browsers. Furthermore, because different companies use the .MSR extension for completely different purposes (from school science experiments to complex mining geometry), generic conversion tools routinely fail to process them. To make the data usable, users typically need to convert .MSR to universal formats like CSV (Comma Separated Values), TXT, or XLSX. For 3D models, conversion to DXF or OBJ is preferred. However, because standard online converters fail to parse these undocumented structures, your best option is to use the original software's export function. We can inspect the file's internal structure, such as identifying underlying zlib compression used in some MSR data loggers, and extract readable text or embedded content.

Convert.Guru analyzes your MSR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ZIP, GSR, PNG, HDF5, RGN and SGY files.

FAQ

If you want to convert MSR file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use PHYWE measure or similar software from the "Scientific Measurement Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to MSR, try PHYWE measure or another comparable tool in the "Scientific Measurement Data Storage" category.

The MSR Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MSR converter.
