About GDR files
The .GDR file extension usually represents a Geometry Dash replay or macro file used by modding tools like Mega Hack, xdBot, or Macrobot. Players use these files to record, playback, and automate level completions in Geometry Dash. A secondary, distinct use case is for ID badge and card design layouts used by enterprise software like CardExchange or ImageWare EPI Suite. In this context, the file stores printer settings or XML-based layout data for printing secure ID cards.
The primary disadvantage of a .GDR file is its strict software dependency and closed nature. Geometry Dash macro files are proprietary, undocumented binary formats that only the specific bot or mod menu can read. They are useless outside the game and cannot be natively uploaded to video platforms. Badge design .GDR files are equally locked into expensive, specialized enterprise software.
Because of these restrictions, users frequently attempt to convert .GDR files. For gamers, the goal is usually converting the replay into a standard MP4 video file for sharing. For card designers, exporting the layout to a PDF, PNG, or JPG is necessary to share the design with clients who do not own a software license.
Unfortunately, standard online converters fail to process .GDR files because the format is highly niche. Often, only the original game mod or design software can properly read or export the data. However, you can use convert.guru as a workaround. Just drag and drop your file to identify the exact format, view its internal structure, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects supported underlying XML data - which is common in the badge design variants - viewing the layout parameters or extracting text may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GDR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert GDR file to TTF, OTF, WOFF, WOFF2, EOT, SVG, BDF, PCF, FNT, FON, PFM or AFM, you can use Mega Hack or similar software from the "Game Replay & Badge Layout" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert UFO, WOFF, PFB, GXF, AFM, F3F, SFD, WOFF2, PSF, TTF, TXF or OTF files to GDR, try Mega Hack or another comparable tool in the "Game Replay & Badge Layout" category.
The GDR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GDR converter.
