About GRD files

The .GRD extension identifies two distinct but widely used file types: Adobe Photoshop Gradient files and Golden Software Surfer Grid files.

1. Photoshop Gradient Files:
Designers use these files to store gradient presets - mathematical definitions of color transitions.

2. Surfer & GIS Grid Files:
Scientists and engineers use this format (often associated with Golden Software Surfer, Generic Mapping Tools, or DIVA-GIS) to store uniform grids of elevation or geospatial data.

Convert.Guru analyzes your GRD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted GGR, GRID, JPG, ZIP, PNG, GRADIENTLIBRARY, GRADIENTS, XML, CSV, NC, SRF, PDF and GDR files.

The GRD Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GRD converter.
