About FADEIN files

A .fadein file is a screenwriting project file created by Fade In Professional Screenwriting. Internally, the format is a standard ZIP compressed archive. It contains raw XML data representing the text of the screenplay, along with metadata and formatting instructions.

Users need to convert this file because it is proprietary. Standard word processors like Microsoft Word or web browsers cannot open it. If you share a .fadein file with someone who does not own a license for the software, they will be unable to read the script. This creates a severe limitation for industry collaboration, where FDX (Final Draft) or PDF are the expected standards.

The best conversion targets are PDF for read-only sharing, FDX for editing in Final Draft, or FOUNTAIN for plain text markdown. Note that complex scene formatting or internal notes may shift during external conversion.

Because this is a closed format, standard online converters often fail to process it. Since we can analyze the underlying XML text, viewing or conversion to generic document formats is still possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FADEIN file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted FDX, PDF, XML, FOUNTAIN, TXT, JPG, HTML, PBIX, ZIP, TSX, AEP, CLG and VGZ files.
