Convert EMP to another file type
To convert EMP macros to another format, you need Valor NPI or other Cad software.
Convert a file to EMP
To convert other file formats to the "PCB Library Data File" file type, you need software like Valor NPI or a similar tool.
About EMP files
An .EMP file is usually a proprietary data file, most commonly used as a PCB component placement or library file in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software like Valor NPI or Autodesk EAGLE. The extension is also frequently utilized for electrical engineering page macros in EPLAN Electric P8 or as character skill plans for the EVEmon character planner in EVE Online.
The primary disadvantage of the .EMP format is its rigid, proprietary nature. These files are not meant to be shared as general documents. They require highly specialized software with expensive commercial licenses (like EPLAN or Valor NPI) to open properly. If you do not have the native software installed, you simply cannot view the schematics, parts lists, or PCB layouts.
To share this data with colleagues or clients, you must convert it. PCB and schematic data should ideally be exported to PDF for viewing or DXF and .GERBER for manufacturing. EVEmon files can often be read as standard XML. Standard online converters usually fail to process .EMP files because they do not understand closed CAD and engineering macro structures. Since many .EMP files (like the EVEmon variants or EPLAN macros) are secretly just XML files or GZIP archives under the hood, our analysis engine can detect the underlying structure. Even if a direct image conversion is impossible, we can often extract the raw text, parts lists, or internal embedded data so you can bypass the software restrictions.
Convert.Guru analyzes your EMP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert EMP file to PDF, MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WMA, M4A, AIFF, OPUS, ALAC or APE, you can use Valor NPI or similar software from the "PCB Component Placement Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MIDI, AAC, TTA, AU, WV, DTS, MID, FLAC, RA, MP3, PCM or WAV files to EMP, try Valor NPI or another comparable tool in the "PCB Component Placement Data" category.
The EMP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EMP converter.
