About EMAIL files
A .EMAIL file is an exported electronic mail message generated by legacy communication software like Windows Mail or Outlook Express. It typically stores the sender information, recipient details, subject line, message body text, HTML formatting, and embedded attachments in a standard MIME format. You need to convert this file because the .EMAIL extension is non-standard and highly obscure. When you share a .EMAIL file, the recipient's computer will usually fail to recognize it, displaying an annoying 'How do you want to open this file?' prompt. Unlike the universally supported EML or MSG formats, .EMAIL lacks default application associations on modern operating systems like macOS or Windows 11. The best conversion targets are EML for importing into standard email clients like Mozilla Thunderbird, PDF for secure document archiving, or TXT for extracting plain text. Note that converting to plain text or PDF will usually strip or flatten any embedded attachments. Because this is an obscure extension, standard converters often fail to process it.
