About EDOC files

The .edoc file is a specialized, digitally signed container used primarily in Latvia and Estonia for secure electronic document exchange. It adheres to the ETSI ASiC-E standard, functioning as a digital envelope that holds one or more source files (such as PDF, DOCX, or JPG) alongside their cryptographic signatures. While legally binding in Baltic states, .edoc files present significant hurdles for international users: they are not natively supported by Windows, macOS, or standard web browsers. Opening them requires specific regional middleware like DigiDoc4 or eParaksts, which creates friction when sharing contracts or invoices with partners outside the ecosystem. To make these files accessible, users often need to "convert" them by extracting the internal documents. For general sharing and archiving, converting the contents to a standard PDF is the best practice. For technical inspection or data recovery, treating the file as a ZIP archive allows for manual extraction of the payload.

Convert.Guru analyzes your EDOC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ADOC, ASICE, PDF, DOCX, EDOC 2, DOC, HTML, ZIP, XML, BIN, ASPX, TXT and DAT files.

The EDOC Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EDOC converter.
