Convert EC to another file type
To convert EC Coverage files to another format, you need JaCoCo or other Developer software.
Convert a file to EC
To convert other file formats to the "Execution Data File" file type, you need software like JaCoCo or a similar tool.
About EC files
An .EC file is primarily an execution data file generated by the JaCoCo code coverage tool for Java and Android development. Secondary uses include compiled modules for the Easy Programming Language and encrypted compressed archives created by Easy-Pack or WinRAR. Additionally, it is sometimes used as a stretch ceiling project file by Ferico EasyCeiling.
The main disadvantage of the .EC format is its severe fragmentation. Because multiple unrelated applications use the exact same file extension, standard operating systems fail to assign a correct default program. Furthermore, JaCoCo execution files are raw binary logs of Java Virtual Machine (JVM) activity; they are not human-readable and cannot be opened in standard text editors. Easy Language .EC files are compiled code, meaning the original source code is stripped away, making them extremely rigid and difficult to reverse-engineer.
To make use of a JaCoCo .EC file, developers typically need to use native reporting tasks to convert the binary data into XML, HTML, or CSV files. If your .EC file is an encrypted archive, you must extract it to standard formats using WinRAR.
This file format is notoriously difficult to open or convert online because it usually lacks a standardized header or contains strictly compiled binary data. Emphasize that often only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, like a standard ZIP archive, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your EC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert EC file to PPM, GC, TDS, TT, BASE64, HEX, BIN, ENC, CRYPT, AES, DES or RSA, you can use JaCoCo or similar software from the "Code Coverage & Compiled Modules" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert CER, BIN, PEM, DER, KEY, P7S, PFX, ENC, P12, BASE64, P7B or HEX files to EC, try JaCoCo or another comparable tool in the "Code Coverage & Compiled Modules" category.
The EC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EC converter.
