About DSE files
The .DSE extension serves multiple proprietary ecosystems, creating significant confusion for users attempting to open them. The most common use is as a configuration file for Deep Sea Electronics generator controllers. These files store critical engine parameters, alarm settings, and logic sequences within the DSE Configuration Suite. Because they are binary-encoded for specific hardware, they cannot be opened in standard text editors, making it difficult to review settings without the proprietary software or the physical device.
Another significant variation is the DAZ Studio Encrypted Script. Used by DAZ 3D, these files contain protected code for 3D content. The encryption explicitly prevents users from editing or converting the script to plain text DSA or DSB formats to protect intellectual property. Users also frequently encounter .DSE files as lighting profiles for SteelSeries GG (Engine) peripherals or as legacy video recordings from Y-cam security cameras.
Best Conversion Targets:
- For Documentation & Archiving: Convert Deep Sea Electronics configs to PDF or capture screenshots to document system settings without needing the controller connected.
- For Inspection: If possible, export data to TXT or CSV for analysis, though direct conversion is often blocked by proprietary formatting.
- For 3D Developers: DAZ scripts generally cannot be converted due to encryption; they must be executed within DAZ Studio.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DSE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted GSE, NEF, PDF, JPG, ZIP, BIN, RDS, DUF, DSF and AE files.
The DSE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DSE converter.
