Convert a file to DRP
To convert other file formats to the "NLE Project File" file type, you need software like DaVinci Resolve or a similar tool.
About DRP files
A .DRP file is most commonly a project file created by DaVinci Resolve, the professional video editing and color grading software by Blackmagic Design. It functions as a database container (internally a ZIP archive) that holds your timeline sequences, edit decisions, color grades, and audio mixing data.
The Problem: The most significant source of friction is that a .DRP file is not a video file. It does not contain the actual video or audio clips (source media); it only contains file paths pointing to where those clips live on your hard drive. If you send a .DRP file to a client without the source media, they will see "Media Offline" errors. Furthermore, .DRP files are proprietary and generally not backward compatible; a project saved in Resolve 18 often cannot be opened in Resolve 17.
The Solution: To share your work as a playable video, you must open the project in DaVinci Resolve and render it to a delivery format. For web use and clients, convert the project to H.264 .MP4. For archival or broadcasting, export to ProRes .MOV or DNxHR .MXF. If you need to migrate the timeline to another NLE like Adobe Premiere Pro, you should export an XML or AAF file rather than relying on the .DRP itself. For the minority of users with .DRP files from AIMP, these are DSP presets used to adjust audio processing settings and are specific to that player.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DRP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert DRP file to MP4, XML, PRPROJ, MP3, MOV, JPG, PDF, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF or TIF, you can use DaVinci Resolve or similar software from the "Video Editing Project" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert RAW, PNG, AI, NEF, PSB, DNG, SVG, GIF, EPS, JPG, ARW or PDF files to DRP, try DaVinci Resolve or another comparable tool in the "Video Editing Project" category.
The DRP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DRP converter.
