About DGK files

A .dgk file is a proprietary Delcam Geometry file, essentially a digital blueprint used by Autodesk PowerShape (formerly Delcam) for designing complex 3D molds, tools, and dies. These files contain high-precision surface data, wireframes, and solids essential for CNC manufacturing.

A common problem with .dgk files is their severe proprietary lock-in. Unlike neutral formats, a .dgk file cannot be opened directly in popular CAD tools like SolidWorks, Rhino, or Blender without an expensive translation plugin or the original software. This creates a major bottleneck for engineers trying to collaborate with mold makers who still rely on legacy Delcam workflows. Furthermore, version mismatches between old Delcam files and newer Autodesk iterations can lead to geometry errors or missing features upon import.

For practical use, you should convert .dgk files based on your end goal:

Convert.Guru analyzes your DGK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PSMODEL, PDF, DXF, DMT, INP, JPEG, JPG, RAR, X_T, AAE, STEP, ASPX and TXT files.

The DGK Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DGK converter.
