About CYP files

The .CYP file extension represents multiple specialized formats, most notably structural analysis projects from CYPE and architectural CAD designs from Ashampoo 3D CAD Architecture. It is also frequently used as a Cypher Query Language script in the Neo4j graph database ecosystem, and occasionally as electronic circuit simulation projects by Crocodile Clips.

These architectural and engineering files are heavily proprietary. A CYPE .CYP file contains complex structural data, reinforcement details, and load calculations. An Ashampoo .CYP file stores 3D architectural models, floor plans, and textures. The major disadvantage of these formats is extreme vendor lock-in. You cannot open a CYPE structural file without a costly, licensed installation of CYPECAD. Sharing these native files with clients or external contractors who use standard tools like AutoCAD or Revit is practically impossible.

To share structural or design data, users must export the .CYP file to universal formats like DWG, DXF, or PDF using the original authoring software. Converting to these 2D formats often strips the parametric 3D data and structural constraints, leaving only static geometry behind. For Neo4j database users, the .CYP file is simply a plain text script that can easily be read, edited, or renamed to TXT or SQL.

Because architectural and structural .CYP files are closed binary formats, standard online converters fail to process them. Often, only the original software can accurately read the geometric data. However, you can just drag and drop your .CYP file onto convert.guru to identify the exact format, view it, and convert it when possible. Since many CYPE files use GZIP compression under the hood, our tool can inspect the internal file headers, extract readable text, and show you exactly what type of .CYP file you are dealing with.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CYP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DWG, LXDS, DXF, PDF, JPG, BAK, APKG, RLD, MPJ and MG files.

FAQ

If you want to convert CYP file to DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T or X_B, you can use CYPE Ingenieros or similar software from the "Structural Analysis & CAD Project" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to CYP, try CYPE Ingenieros or another comparable tool in the "Structural Analysis & CAD Project" category.

The CYP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CYP converter.
