A .comic file is a proprietary project document created by Comic Life, an application by plasq designed to arrange personal photos into comic book layouts. The file acts as a container that stores page configurations, panel arrangements, text balloons, vector captions, and the embedded raw image assets needed to render the project.
The primary disadvantage of the .comic format is its heavily closed, proprietary ecosystem. It is not supported by web browsers, standard image viewers, or standard comic book reader applications. Sharing a .comic file requires the recipient to have the exact software installed, which often means buying a license. Furthermore, standard online converters fail to process it because the file relies on a specific layout engine rather than storing flat, rendered pixels.
To distribute your work, you must convert the project into standard formats. PDF is the best target format for multi-page document sharing, as it maintains both vector text and raster images. JPG or PNG are ideal for exporting single pages to share on social media. If you are targeting dedicated comic reader apps, standard archive formats like CBZ or CBR are highly recommended.
