About CBT files
A .CBT file is primarily a Comic Book Tarball archive. It groups sequential image files, typically JPG or PNG, into a single file for easy reading. The format relies on the standard Tar (computing) archiving method to structure Comic book archives. Secondary uses include printer firmware updates for Transact Technologies and legacy Microsoft Computer Based Training files. You can open comic archives using dedicated software like CDisplay Ex or MComix. A major disadvantage of the .CBT format is the lack of native compression. Because TAR only archives and does not compress, .CBT files can be significantly larger than CBZ (Zip) or CBR (RAR) alternatives. The format is also specific to comic readers and will not open in web browsers, native tablet e-readers, or standard document viewers. Users often need to convert this file to overcome device limits and save storage space. For universal reading on smartphones, tablets, or Kindle, convert .CBT to PDF or EPUB. For better storage efficiency, convert to CBZ. For image editing, extract the contents to individual JPG files. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser.
