About CM files
The .CM file extension serves as a container for several unrelated proprietary formats, creating significant confusion for users. The most common use case is for Cellometer data files generated by Nexcelom Bioscience instruments, which store automated cell counting results and microscopy imagery. These files are typically locked into the manufacturer's ecosystem, making it difficult to share raw data with colleagues who lack the specific analysis software. Users often need to convert these into universal formats like CSV or XLSX for statistical analysis in Microsoft Excel or PDF for lab reports.
Another frequent source is the Clickmate app for Android, which saves macro automation scripts as .CM files. Under the hood, these are often standard JSON text files, but the custom extension prevents text editors from recognizing them automatically. Similarly, ZennoPoster automation templates use this extension but are structurally ZIP archives. Practical friction arises because operating systems do not natively recognize .CM, leaving users guessing whether to treat the file as a binary executable, a text script, or a compressed archive.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert CM file to KM, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT or DB, you can use Cellometer Analysis or similar software from the "Scientific Data & Macro Recording" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to CM, try Cellometer Analysis or another comparable tool in the "Scientific Data & Macro Recording" category.
The CM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CM converter.
