About CDP files

The .CDP file extension represents a diverse set of data structures, most prominently serving as the content distribution format for the Trainz Simulator series by N3V Games. These files act as compressed archives (Content Dispatcher Packs) containing assets like locomotives, routes, and scenery. While essential for expanding gameplay, they pose significant challenges: they are proprietary containers that cannot be opened by standard archivers like WinRAR without specific handling, and they often face version compatibility issues between different iterations of the game (e.g., Trainz 2019 vs. Trainz 2022). Users often need to convert these archives to ZIP to inspect corrupted assets or manually extract texture files.

Additionally, the extension is used by ConceptDraw PROJECT for project management data. These files are strictly locked to the ConceptDraw ecosystem, making them inaccessible to stakeholders who lack a license. For professional collaboration, converting these project files to PDF for viewing, or XML for migration to Microsoft Project, is a standard workflow. A third, technical variation involves Windows Connected Devices Platform settings, which are essentially JSON text files; converting these to TXT or CSV allows system administrators to parse configuration data more easily.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CDP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted CDPRESOURCE, ZIP, RAR, CPD, IM, CDPZ, 7ZZ, 3D, CDR, 7Z, TXT, PNG and SST files.

The CDP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CDP converter.
