About BWW files

The .BWW file extension represents two completely different file types: a proprietary game save data file and a specialized bagpipe music notation file. For gamers, titles built on the Codemasters EGO Engine, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, and specific Nintendo Switch ports use .BWW to store player profiles, progression, and settings. For musicians, .BWW files are created by Bagpipe Music Writer, a legacy notation software used to compose and playback pipe band sheet music.

You may need to convert a .BWW file because both formats are highly restrictive. Bagpipe notation files require niche, often outdated software to open, making it extremely difficult to share sheet music with musicians using standard digital devices. Game saves are encrypted binary files locked to a specific console or PC game engine, meaning they lack native browser support and are useless outside of their parent game environment.

For bagpipe music, the ideal conversion targets are standard document or audio formats. Converting to PDF lets you print and share the sheet music easily, while exporting to MIDI or MP3 allows for universal audio playback without needing specialized bagpipe software. Game save files, however, generally cannot be converted to other formats; they can only be backed up or modified using dedicated hex editors.

Standard online converters usually fail with .BWW files because the structures are highly proprietary. Game data files are deliberately obfuscated to prevent cheating, meaning only the original game can properly read or export the data. Bagpipe notation relies on a unique text syntax that standard audio converters cannot interpret. If our analysis detects a supported underlying notation or text format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your BWW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PIO, TXT, PDF, INDD, MID, MP3, PRT, NDS, BSV and DSZ files.
