About ATM files
The .ATM file extension is primarily utilized as an obfuscated game launcher executable for the MMORPGs ACE Online and AirRivals. In other contexts, it operates as a 3D environment preset in E-on Vue (Vue Atmospheres File) or as a proprietary audio file for Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) games. Because it serves multiple, entirely unrelated purposes, the underlying binary structure of an .ATM file depends entirely on the software that created it.
Working with .ATM files presents significant challenges. The ACE Online variants are disguised EXE files designed to deter reverse engineering and prevent casual tampering. They pose a security risk if executed outside their original game directory. The Vue Atmospheres variants are locked behind expensive, proprietary 3D rendering ecosystems, meaning they cannot be natively previewed in web browsers or standard operating systems. Similarly, PSP Game Audio files use console-specific encoding that modern media players like VLC often fail to decode without specialized plugins.
To make these files usable, extraction or format shifting is necessary. PSP Audio files should ideally be converted to WAV or MP3 for playback across modern devices. Vue Atmospheres cannot be directly converted into standard 3D meshes like OBJ or FBX because they store procedural environment data (like sky, clouds, and lighting settings) rather than geometric shapes; however, they can be rendered into raster images like PNG or JPG within the Vue software.
Standard online converters routinely fail with .ATM files because they lack parsers for these fragmented, closed-source structures. Often, only the original game engine or 3D suite can properly read or export the data. However, you can just drag and drop your file into convert.guru to identify the exact format, view its hex headers, and extract embedded text. If our analysis detects a supported underlying media format or a standard executable wrapper, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ATM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ATM file to BAR, PA, PSI, MPA, OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX, BLEND, MA or MB, you can use ACE Online or similar software from the "Game Launcher & 3D Presets" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DWG, DAE, X3D, IGES, WRL, JT, SKP, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, STEP or FBX files to ATM, try ACE Online or another comparable tool in the "Game Launcher & 3D Presets" category.
The ATM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ATM converter.
