About ATM files

The .ATM file extension is a chameleon, serving three distinct, incompatible purposes depending on its origin. Most commonly (approx. 12% of cases), it is a Game Launcher Executable for the flight simulation MMORPG ACE Online (also known as AirRivals). In this context, the file is actually a standard Windows EXE that has been renamed to .ATM to function as an internal launcher or updater. Users commonly have issues here because the operating system does not recognize it as an application, preventing the game from starting if the launcher is corrupt or separated from its main directory.

Less frequently, an .ATM file is a Vue Atmospheres File created by E-on Software Vue. These files store complex 3D environmental settings - such as lighting, fog, cloud layers, and wind - rather than geometry or images. They are proprietary and generally cannot be "converted" to standard image formats like JPG or PNG without first rendering the scene inside Vue. Finally, in the realm of console emulation, .ATM files appear as PSP Game Audio containers. These are proprietary audio streams used by Sony PlayStation Portable games. They are not playable in standard media players like VLC or Windows Media Player, requiring specialized extraction tools to convert the internal audio streams into usable WAV or MP3 files.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ATM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted HTM, 301, HTML, JPG, PRV, CLR, FNC, BAR, PA, PSI and MPA files.

The ATM Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ATM converter.
