About ATF files

The .ATF file extension primarily identifies the Adobe Texture Format, a specialized container developed by Adobe to store compressed textures for Flash Player and AIR applications. These files are engineered to hold lossy texture data (using algorithms like PVRTC, ETC1, or DXT) optimized for efficient GPU rendering across different devices.

Because .ATF files are strictly designed for runtime execution rather than storage or display, standard image viewers cannot open them. Users often encounter these files when extracting assets from legacy games or applications and face a "black box" - the content is inaccessible without the original development environment. Furthermore, the extension is reused by unrelated software: Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS) uses it for design kits, Albelli uses it for photo book projects, and Mozilla Firefox sometimes generates temporary .ATF files during interrupted PDF downloads.

To make these files usable, determining the correct conversion target is critical. For Adobe Textures, converting to standard PNG or JPG allows you to view and edit the graphics. For ADS Design Kits or Albelli projects, converting to PDF creates an accessible archive of the visual layout. If the file is a partial browser download, simply renaming it or finalizing the conversion to PDF can recover the document.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ATF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PDF, ALB, RTF, AVIF, ATFX, NONAME, ZIP, PNG, JPG, TIF, XML, AWD and TXT files.

The ATF Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ATF converter.
