About ATF files

The .ATF file extension primarily stands for Adobe Texture Format. It is a proprietary image container created by Adobe to store hardware-accelerated 3D textures for Flash Player and Adobe AIR (Stage3D). The file stores raw GPU-compressed data, bundling multiple compression standards like DXT for Windows, PVRTC for iOS, and ETC1 for Android into a single payload. The format is notoriously difficult to work with. It is highly proprietary, completely unsupported by standard image viewers, and natively tied to the discontinued Flash ecosystem. Users cannot open these files without specialized developer SDKs. Additionally, the .ATF extension is fragmented. It is also used for Albelli photo book projects, Keysight ADS Design Kit scripts, financial audit data files, and even as temporary PDF downloads in Mozilla Firefox. When the file is an Adobe texture, users usually want to convert it to a standard PNG, JPG, or DDS to extract the graphics. Unfortunately, standard online converters fail to process this file because they cannot parse the raw GPU block compression. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, such as the zlib or ZIP structures used by Albelli photo books and financial audit files, viewing or extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ATF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PDF, ALB, RTF, AVIF, ATFX, NONAME, ZIP, PNG, JPG, TIF, XML, AWD and TXT files.

The ATF Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ATF converter.
