About ASR files
The .ASR file extension is highly fragmented. Its most common use is as a Game Resource Archive or Audio Streaming Resource Archive for the proprietary Rebellion Asura game engine used by Rebellion Developments. However, the extension is also heavily used for software activation specification records by Macrovision FLEXnet Publisher, CAD reinforcement steel schedules by Nemetschek Allplan, and even screen recording files by Mirillis Action!.
Because of this fragmentation, users constantly struggle to open or convert .ASR files. Operating systems fail to associate the correct software. Furthermore, many of these are closed, proprietary formats. Game archives require reverse-engineered community tools to extract internal assets. CAD schedules are locked behind expensive enterprise software subscriptions. Standard online converters almost always fail to process them correctly.
Your best target format depends entirely on the file's origin. Mirillis Action! recordings can often be converted to MP4 or MKV. Abacus software backups are standard ZIP files in disguise. FLEXnet records are just plain XML text. If our analysis detects a supported embedded format, viewing or extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ASR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ASR file to MP3, EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP or SAV, you can use Rebellion Asura or similar software from the "Game Resource Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to ASR, try Rebellion Asura or another comparable tool in the "Game Resource Archive" category.
The ASR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ASR converter.
