The .ASR file extension is highly fragmented. Its most common use is as a Game Resource Archive or Audio Streaming Resource Archive for the proprietary Rebellion Asura game engine used by Rebellion Developments. However, the extension is also heavily used for software activation specification records by Macrovision FLEXnet Publisher, CAD reinforcement steel schedules by Nemetschek Allplan, and even screen recording files by Mirillis Action!.
Because of this fragmentation, users constantly struggle to open or convert .ASR files. Operating systems fail to associate the correct software.
