About PC files
A .pc file is a highly fragmented file extension used by dozens of unrelated applications. Most commonly, it acts as a Java-based database backup for mobile tracking apps like Period Calendar, or as a JSON vehicle configuration file for the physics simulator BeamNG.drive. In software and industrial environments, .pc files store embedded SQL C source code for the Oracle Pro*C Precompiler, compiled robot instructions for FANUC KAREL, or package configurations for pkg-config via Freedesktop.org. Because it lacks a unified standard, a .pc file relies entirely on the software that created it.
Opening these files depends entirely on their origin. For developers and gamers, BeamNG configs, pkg-config files, and Oracle source code can be opened in text editors like Notepad++. However, mobile app backups and compiled game packages (like Rebellion Asura or FMOD Sound Banks) are closed binaries. Users frequently struggle with these proprietary versions because they require a specific app to restore data, and files easily exceed standard limits or become unreadable when transferred to a computer.
For readable variants like game configurations or code, the best target formats are JSON or TXT. You can also convert code to PDF for documentation. Unencrypted app data is theoretically convertible to CSV, but mobile apps often enforce proprietary locks. This file format is difficult to open or convert because often only the original software can properly read or export the data. Standard online converters fail because they cannot guess which of the 15+ variations of .pc you uploaded. Our engine will inspect the file to show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - like plain text or JSON - viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PC file to NAS, SERVER, LINUX, VM, NVR, TV, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML or TOML, you can use BeamNG.drive or similar software from the "App Data & Configuration Files" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to PC, try BeamNG.drive or another comparable tool in the "App Data & Configuration Files" category.
The PC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PC converter.
