The .BS file extension is a multi-purpose container used across three distinct industries: financial services, identity management, and software development.

1. Banco Sabadell Documents: The most common use (approx. 19%) is for downloaded banking statements from Banco Sabadell. These are often standard HTML or PDF files that are saved with a .bs extension by the banking portal, causing confusion as operating systems do not recognize them. Users encounter friction because double-clicking fails to open the file in a web browser or Adobe Acrobat Reader.

2. Badge & Card Design: The extension is also used by Evolis Badge Studio and Bizerba card design software. These files (often ZIP-compressed) contain layout data for ID cards, including images, text placeholders, and magnetic encoding settings. Sharing these files is difficult as recipients cannot view the design without installing the specific proprietary badge software.

3.
