About APPROJ files
The .approj file is a proprietary screen recording and e-learning project file created by ActivePresenter. It acts as a container for raw video captures, audio tracks, annotations, interactive quizzes, and timeline metadata. Internally, these files use an SQL database structure to link media assets together, making them highly complex.
The main disadvantage of the .approj format is that it is strictly proprietary. It requires a heavy desktop installation of ActivePresenter to open, and the files frequently exceed several gigabytes in size. You cannot play an .approj file in standard media players like VLC, nor can you upload it directly to YouTube or web browsers. Without the original software, the project is effectively locked and useless to the end recipient.
To share the content, users must convert or export the project to standard delivery formats like MP4, AVI, or HTML5 for interactive e-learning. Because .approj is a database-driven project file rather than a standard flat media file, generic online video converters will always fail to process it. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported on convert.guru. Our engine can inspect the internal SQL tables and identify embedded media. Even if rendering the final timeline is impossible without the original software, we can often extract the raw media assets for you.
Convert.Guru analyzes your APPROJ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert APPROJ file to MP4, DB, SQLITE, SQLITE3, MDB, ACCDB, DBF, ODB, FDB, GDB, MYD or FRM, you can use ActivePresenter or similar software from the "Screen Recording Project File" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The APPROJ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our APPROJ converter.
